Where is Merseyside?

So, where exactly is Merseyside? The North West county, which gets its name from the River Mersey, extends along the banks forming the estuary mouth. It is bordered to the north-east by Lancashire. Greater Manchester lies to the east, with Cheshire to the south and south-east, and the Irish Sea to the west.

Populated by around 1.38 million people, Merseyside centres on the city of Liverpool. The area also includes the boroughs of Knowsley, St Helens, Sefton, and the Wirral. While the county is split in two by the estuary, the two Mersey Tunnels, the Mersey Ferry and the Wirral Line connect the divided banks together.
